Pfc Paul E. Adams graduated from Boswell High School in 1942 and was employed by the National Radiator Company in Johnstown before he enlisted in Altoona, Pennsylvania on 26 January 1943.

He was married to Sue Shaffer on 25 January 1943.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of St. Avold, France.
