Pvt Mack D. Morrow attended high school for one year and was a woodworker employed by the Arthurdale Craftman Shop in Arthurdale, West Virginia.

He enlisted at Camp Croft, South Carolina on 27 December 1943.

In October 1944 he was wounded in action by artillery shell fragments to his thoracic wall and abdomen muscles. After recovering, he rejoined his unit.
