Pvt John J. Sheehan a professional cyclist and holder of the Mid-West championship for two successive years.

Before he enlisted in New York City on 27 August 1943, he was employed by the the East Side Omin Bus Co. and later by the Todd Shipyards.

In September 1944 he was wounded by white phosphorus in the face and leg.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his neck.
