Pfc Chester L. Marlatt attended Dover High School. He was a truck driver, employed by the Peters Lumber Company and the Helen Bros Plant.

He enlisted in Akron, Ohio on 28 July 1943 and he was sent overseas in January 1944, arriving in North Africa on 3 February.

On 9 September 1944 he was wounded in action in France and hospitalized. He returned to his unit on 26 September, but he was killed by small arms fire in the back on 30 September 1944.
