Pvt Carl V. Gibson attended high school for one year and was a mechanic employed by the Clark Furniture Company.

He enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 23 December 1943.

He was reported severly wounded in action by artillery shell fragments in December 1944. He died of his wounds on 2 January 1945.
