Sgt Robert J. Sneckenberger graduated from the New Castle High School and was employed by the Stromas Hirschberg Mill.He enlisted in Erie, Pennsylvania on 23 March 1943.
Sgt Sneckenberger was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously for his actions on 7 October 1944.
He was killed by a land mine.
