Pfc Carl W. Feely graduated in 1941 from Modesto High School and worked in the warehouse of the Caterpillar Tractor Co.He enlisted in Peoria, Illinois on 21 April 1943 and had his basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama and Fort Meade, Maryland before he was sent to Sicily in October 1943.
For his actions on 28 January 1944 in Cisterna, Italy, he was awarded with the Bronze Star Medal.
He was wounded in action in January 1944 by artillery shell fragments at the spine and trunk. He stayed in the hospital until May.
In October 1944 he was wounded again by artillery shell fragments at his head and stayed in the hospital until December.
On 25 January 1945 he was severely wounded in action by small arms fire in the abdomen. He died of his wounds on 27 January. The exact location where he died is not known.
