Pfc Lewis R. De Long was employed by the Flint Venetian Blind Company before he enlisted in January 1944. He joined A Company on 6 November 1944.

On 24 November 1944, in the vicinity of Bourg-Bruche, France, he was wounded in action by small arms fire at his chin. He was hospitalized until 22 January 1945.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the thorax and the head.
