Pfc Charlie W. Sykes attended high school for one year and was a production worker, employed by the North Carolina Pulp Company.He enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 25 November 1942.
He was wounded in action near Rupt-sur-Moselle on 29 September 1944.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his back.
