T/Sgt Walter N. Clarke attended high school for three years.

He enlisted at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 25 March 1943 and joined A Company in Italy on 13 November 1943.

During the Italy campaign he was wounded in action several times, the first time in Anzio on 31 January 1944 and later on 28 May in the vicinity of Artena.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
