Sgt John R. Weingarden graduated from Cathedral Academy and was a printer apprentice employed by the Jan B. Lyon Company.

He enlisted in Albany, New York on 3 April 1943.

From March 1944 to April 1944 he was hospitalized in Italy for wounds caused by small arms fire to his leg. From August 1944 to September 1944 he was hospitalized again for wounds caused by artillery shell fragments.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
