Pfc Ernest Nellinger attended high school for three years and was unemployed.He enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 16 March 1943.
On 5 March 1944 he was wounded in Anzio by small arms fire in the leg. He was hospitalized until May.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the thorax.
