Pvt Donald B. Primmer was a mechanic before he joined the Regular Army at Fort McDowell, California on 8 August 1940.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously for his actions as a member of C Battery of the 39th Field Artillery Battalion on 10 July 1943 in Sicily.

He was killed by small arms fire in the back.
