Pfc Edward R. Rowland was a farmer.

He enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 4 October 1943.

In October 1944, he was wounded in France by small arms fire to his head. He stayed in the hospital until November when he was discharged to return to duty.

In February 1945, he was reported wounded in action by artillery shell fragments to his hip and buttocks. The exact date of the report and the location where he died from his wounds are not known.
