Pfc Frank A. Corbin attended Austin High School and Rice University.
He enlisted at Fort Bliss, Texas on 12 November 1943.
He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously for his actions on the day of his death. The citation cited: On 5 February 1945, in the vicinity of Vogelsheim, France, Pvt Corbin, an automatic rifleman, raced 75 yards under heavy fire to a railroad signal tower where he fired upon enemy troops and halted their advance. From an exposed position he silenced two enemy machine guns before he was killed by a German sniper.
He was killed by small arms fire in the head.
