T/5 John T. McBride attended high school for four years and was a spotwelder employed by the United Steel and Wire Company.

He enlisted in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 21 April 1943. He was sent overseas in the fall of 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his head.
