Pvt Charles K. Turner enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 20 March 1942. Former jockey, he entered the service and had been overseas for nine months. He had served in Normandy, Northern France, Belgium and Germany.

He was a stableman before he enlisted.
