Pfc Willard C. Chamberlain was a retail manager employed at the family company.

He enlisted in Indianapolis, Indiana on 1 November 1943.

During the night of 19 - 20 November 1944, the 3rd Infantry Division crossed the River Meurthe in the vicinity of St. Michel-sur-Meurthe and moved forward. At the end of the day the village Denipaire was seized.

He was killed in action 20 November by artillery shell fragments in his cheek.
