Pvt Leonard J. Blaskowski attended high school for four years and was a chauffeur.He enlisted in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on 17 October 1944 and was sent overseas in March 1945.
He was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously for single-handed capturing three Germans soldiers and returning them to Allied lines. He was then hit several times by automatic weapons fire.
