S/Sgt Connie B. Stewart attended Lafayette High School.

He enlisted at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 1 April 1943 and was sent overseas in September, 1942.

In February 1944 he was wounded in action in Italy, to his arm by artillery shell fragments. He was hospitalized until March.

S/Sgt Stewart was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his actions on 25 May 1944 in Cisterna, Italy.

On 23 November 1944, in the vicinity of a road block on the Nayemont-les-Fosses road to Saales he was killed in action by artillery shell fragments.

S/Sgt Stewart is remembered at Calvary Cemetery in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky with a memorial marker.
