Cpl Hughes E. Miller was a truck driver employed by A. G. Wimpey before he enlisted at Fort McPherson, Georgia on 16 October 1941.

He joined A Company of the 7th Infantry Regiment on 4 March 1944 in Anzio, Italy. On 12 May 1944 he was transferred to HQ COmpany.

In September 1944 he was wounded in action by artillery shell fragments to his leg.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
