More information

Pvt William A. Reighter was an electrician, employed by the McKee Glass Company.

He enlisted in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on 29 December 1943 and was sent overseas in August 1944.

He was killed by small arms fire.

Every year William gave his wife a dozen of roses for their wedding anniversary. Before going overseas he had arranged with the local florist to deliver the flowers. His wife Nellie was notified on that day by a War Department telegram that her husband was killed in action in France. Ten minutes later the florist arrived with the flowers.
