Sgt Ernest Valeri graduated from Samuel Gompers High School and was employed at the Marlin Rockwell Company in Plainfield, Connecticut.

He enlisted in New York City, New York on 17 November 1943 and was sent overseas in January, 1944.

He was killed in action by artillery shell fragments to the arm and thorax.
