Pvt Benjamin F. Hassey attended high school for one year and was a slaughterer employed by the L.S. Briggs Incorporated company.

He enlisted at Fort Myer, Virginia on 31 January 1944. He served with hit unit since the campaign in Italy.

He was killed by a landmine explosion.
