Pfc Elwyn D. Patterson was a production worker in the shoe factory of H.C. Godman before he enlisted in Columbus, Ohio on 23 July 1943.

In April 1944 he was wounded in action in Italy, by artillery shell fragments in the face.

He was killed by small arms fire in the abdomen.
