More information

Pfc William E. Rose attended high school for two years and was a chauffeur employed by the Hansen Truck Line Co. and Delmonte Foods before he enlisted.

He tried to enlist in the military multiple times. He was refused because they said he was too tall, too large to hid from the enemy, that they did not have a uniform large enough to fit him. He was finally admitted to the Infantry.

He enlisted in San Francisco, California on 13 November 1943.

In November 1944, he was wounded in action in France by artillery shell fragments in his neck and leg. He was hospitalized until February 1945.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the head and his thorax.
