Pvt Claude R. Grogg Jr. attended Monaca High School and was a welder, employed by the Colonial Steel Company.

He was married to Norma Werthman on 30 August 1941.

He enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 10 October 1944 and was sent overseas on 18 February 1945.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his arm and the side of his body.
