Pvt Harold Karns attended high school for two years and worked in the packing department of the Dayton Rubber Co.

He enlisted at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 27 May 1944 and was sent overseas in January 1945.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments all over his body.
