S/Sgt Walker H Kay joined the Regular Army on 30 January 1940. He had his basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Fort Beach, North Carolina. He was sent overseas in February 1944.

On 28 May 1944, he was wounded in action in Anzio, Italy by small arms fire and was hospitalized until August.

He was killed by small arms fire in the thorax.
