1st Lt Ernest K. Guard attended Roosevelt High School and the University of Hawaï, and was a plumber before he joined the National Guard in Orlando, Florida on 25 November 1940.He was sent overseas in January 1944.
For his actions on 3 October 1944 in Orchi, France, he was awarded with the Bronze Star Medal.
His twin brother Edwin served with the U.S. Navy and his brother Carl served in the Pacific with the rank of major.
