Pfc Jerome J. Kern was a steel press operator, employed by the Bohn Aluminum and Brass Coporation before he enlisted in 1943.

He was married to Tula Marshall on 23 May 1943.

In March 1944, he was wounded in action in Italy by artillery shell fragments to his thorax, buttock, and hip. He was hospitalized until April. In May 1944 he was again wounded by artillery shell fragments, this time to his legs.

In January 1945 he was again wounded in action by artillery shell fragments to his head and to the side of his body. He died of his wounds on 17th of January.
