Pfc Willis E. Butts attended high school for four years and was employed by the Schlumberger Well Surveying Corporation.

He enlisted in August 1943 and had his basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama and Fort George G. Meade, Maryland from where he was sent overseas in February 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
