Pfc Joseph A. Gurski attended high school for four years and was employed by the Fried & Reineman Company.

He enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 10 March 1943.

He was reported wounded in action by artillery shell fragments in his thigh in November 1944. He was hospitalized until December.

He was killed in action by artillery shell fragments.
