Pfc George H. Woods was a miner before he volunteered for the Army of the United States in Altoona, Pennsylvania on 5 May 1942. He was sent overseas in February 1943.In June 1944, in Italy, he was wounded by artillery shell fragments in his hand.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the face and skull.
