Sgt James L. Gregory attended college for three years and was an advertising agent employed by Wolf and Wright Inc.He voluntary for the Army of the United States at Brooklyn Army Air Base, New York on 27 January 1942.
He met Jean Maney while she was a student at the Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina and James Gregory was stationed at the nearby army base of Fort Croft. They married on 26 December 1943.
He was killed on his one year wedding anniversary, small arms fire in the abdomen.
