Pvt Charles E. Allen attended college for two years and was a farm laborer before he joined the Regular Army on 20 June 1940.He was married Margaret Moore on 19 February 1942 in Pierce, Washington, while stationed at Fort Lewis under command of Lieutenant Colonel Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Pvt Allen participated in combat actions in North Africa, Siciliy, Salerno and Anzio, Italy before his unit landed in Southern France on 15 August 1944.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the right chest.
