Sgt Alvin Maier was employed by the Elliot Motor Company before he enlisted.

In May 1944, in Italy, he was wounded by artillery shell fragments at his arm. He was discharged from the hospital in June 1944.

Sgt Maier was awarded the Silver Star Medal posthumously for his actions on 9 November 1944.

He was killed by small arms fire in the thorax.
