Sgt Raymond D. King was employed by Gold Crown Mining Co. in San Bernardino County, Callifornia.

He was awarded the Silver Star Medal postumously for his actions on 8 September 1944 when the 3rd Battalion advanced towards Chatillon-le-Duc against strong enemy resistance.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the loin.
