Pfc James R. Hutton attended high school for three years and was a shipping clerk, employed by the Barrett Hardware Company, before he enlisted in Chicago, Illinois on 2 December 1942.He was wounded at his foot by artillery shell fragments, but died in a hospital of a pneumococcal lobar. The exact location of the hospital where he died is not known.
