Pfc Walter P. Yeruc attended high school for two years and worked in the machine shop of the Schick Dra Schaver Co. before he enlisted in New Haven, Connecticut on 9 August 1943.In May 1944, in Italy, he was wounded in the arm and leg by artillery shell fragments. He was discharged from the hospital in July 1944.
