Pvt Albert Smith attended high school for three years and worked on the family farm before he enlisted at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on 17 April 1943.In February 1944 he was wounded at his foot by artillery shell fragments and discharged from hospital in March.
In June 1944, he was wounded at his knee, discharged in August and again wounded in August by small arms fire in his leg and shoulder.
In December 1944 he was reported as died non-battle. On the hospital admission cards, the cause of death is bullets in the lung and heart, injury non-battle in the line of duty.
