Pvt John J. Miklush worked in the machine shop of the Hartford Steel Ball Manufacturing Company, before he enlisted in Hartford, Connecticut on 25 February 1943.

In January 1944 he was wounded in the forearm due to artillery shell fragments.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the kidneys.
