Pvt Woodard W. Crumpler was a farmer before he enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 9 October 1942.He was awarded the Silver Star medal posthumously for his actions on 9 September 1944 when the 2nd Battalion moved on against a series of enemy roadblocks near Vorey.
He was killed by wounds in his neck.
