Pvt Philip M. Besch attended high school for four years and was a pondman employed by Hanford Haynes Associated Ship Builders before he enlisted in Seattle, Washington on 7 August 1944.
In January 1945, he was wounded by a bullet in the knee. He was discharged from the hospital in April. Later that month he was killed in action.
