Sgt Donald R. Sigrist was a student before he enlisted in Altoona, Pennsylvania on 2 June 1943 and trained at Fort McClellan, Alabama.On 25 October 1944 he was wounded by artillery shell fragments in the shoulder. He was discharged from the hospital in December.
On 26 December 1944 he was wounded again from an artillery shell blast.
