Pvt Emerson H. Hopfer attended high school for four years at the Connelly Trade School and was a welding instructor, employed by the Curtis-Wright Company before he enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 20 January 1944. He was sent overseas in July 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the abdomen, pelvis, back and shoulder.
