S/Sgt Vincent D. Shubert attended high school for four years and worked on the family farm before he enlisted in Altoona, Pennsylvania on 18 February 1943 and went overseas in July 1943.

In February 1944, in Italy, he sustained a wound on his hand by artillery shell fragments. He was discharged from the hospital in March 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the thorax.
