S/Sgt Hurley M. Phillips worked in the family farm before he enlisted at Camp Forrest, Tennessee on 9 November 1942.In December 1943 he was wounded by artillery shell fragments in the thigh. In February 1944 he was discharged from the hospital.
He was killed by small arms fire.
