T/5 Thomas L. Petersen attended high school for two years and was a carpenter employed by the U.S. Chicago and North Western Railroad.He volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on 12 December 1941.
In January 1944 he was wounded by small arms fire in the leg. He was discharged in February 1944.
