T/he Sgt Joseph W. Keough attended college for one year and was a lithographer before he joined the Regular Army in Spencer, West Virginia on 12 October 1939.

Joseph was taken prisoner in France on 29 September 1944 and was held at Stalag III-C in Alt Drewitz, Germany.
